When children do not like to eat, some parents blindly adopt a forced feeding method, which is not advisable. Traditional Chinese medicine teaches you a massage technique to solve the problem of children not liking to eat, how to find the location of the Ran Gu acupoint?

Reasons for Children Not Liking to Eat

Common reasons for children not liking to eat are as follows:

1. Continuous snacking, constant movement of the mouth, and disrupted stomach and intestinal peristalsis and secretion.

2. Irregular eating habits, no fixed meal times, prolonged or shortened eating times, disrupting the normal digestion pattern of the stomach and intestines, and causing children to refuse to eat.

3. One-sided pursuit of high nutrition, uncontrolled consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy products, damaging the stomach and intestines and causing indigestion.

4. Poor eating environment, eating while playing or being entertained or scolded by parents, preventing them from eating quietly.

5. When children are sick, it can also lead to decreased appetite and refusal to eat. Taking too many medicines or overusing health supplements increases the burden on the stomach and intestines, causing children to lose their appetite.

6. Zinc deficiency causes changes in taste. Parents can observe whether their children are zinc deficient by checking the tongue coating. The tongue surface will have small flat bumps or appear atrophied compared to the normal tongue of a child.

Massage Technique for the Ran Gu Acupoint

Traditional Chinese medicine has a set of theories for pressing techniques: strong and fast stimulation is purging, gentle and slow stimulation is tonifying. When pressing an acupoint, choosing tonifying or purging method for massage will produce completely different effects, even the opposite.

If pressing the Ran Gu acupoint for treating anorexia, the purging method should be used. To achieve significant therapeutic effects, the technique must be done correctly. Otherwise, if pressed or rubbed randomly, although there may be some effects, they will not be as obvious as when the correct technique is used.

After correctly pressing the Ran Gu acupoint with the purging method, the person being pressed will quickly feel a large amount of saliva secretion from the salivary glands in their mouth. After about fifteen minutes, the body will experience a noticeable hunger. At this time, they will be interested in eating.

However, it is important to remember not to overeat because of hunger. Eating until 70% fullness is a healthy choice. When experiencing anorexia, it is worth trying to press the Ran Gu acupoint, which can quickly restore appetite.
