Yinxi acupoint is one of the acupoints of the Hand Shaoyin Heart Meridian. It is located on the palmar side of the forearm, on the radial side of the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon, 0.5 inch above the wrist crease. It is used to treat diseases such as heart pain, palpitations, night sweats, vomiting blood, nosebleeds, and sudden muteness.
Meaning and Explanation:
1) Yinxi: Yin means water, and xi means space or gap. The name Yinxi refers to the flow of water from the Heart Meridian back into the body through this acupoint. The material at this acupoint is the water from the interior of the Tongli acupoint. As there is a gap in this acupoint that connects with the interior of the Heart Meridian, the water from the interior flows back into the Heart Meridian through this gap, hence the name Yinxi.
2) Hand Shaoyin Yinxi or Shaoyin Yinxi: Hand refers to the hand, and Shaoyin refers to the Heart Meridian. Yinxi means gap or cavity. The name of this acupoint implies that the water from this acupoint flows back into the deep part of the earth through the gap in the earth. The explanation is similar to the previous one.
3) Shigong: Shi refers to the kidney, which is the master of water. Gong refers to a palace, which has a small entrance but a large interior. The name Shigong means a huge place in the deep part of the earth where the water from this acupoint flows into. The material at this acupoint is the water from the interior of the earth, which flows into the deep part of the earth where the kidney bone is located. The small streams flowing down the gap merge into the sea of kidney water, hence the name Shigong.
