December 19, 2023

Quze Acupoint is one of the commonly used acupoints in the Pericardium Meridian of Hand Jueyin. It is located in the middle of the elbow crease, on the ulnar side of the tendon of the biceps brachii muscle, and can be found by slightly flexing the elbow. It has the functions of clearing heat, relieving summer heat, regulating stomach, and clearing heat and detoxifying. Massaging Quze Acupoint can protect the heart!

[Massaging Quze Acupoint to Protect the Heart]

Due to the decreased elasticity of blood vessels in the elderly, coupled with improper diet, many people suffer from heart disease. During the process of heart disease progression, exacerbation, or attack, symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness, and loss of appetite may occur.

Massaging Quze Acupoint at this time can effectively relieve discomfort. Quze Acupoint is the confluent point of the Pericardium Meridian and not only has the common characteristics of treating heart diseases with acupoints of the Pericardium Meridian, but also is particularly suitable for heart disease patients with stomach discomfort, nausea, and vomiting.

Quze Acupoint is mainly used to treat angina, palpitations, feverishness, stomach ache, vomiting, elbow spasm, and arm pain.

Quze Acupoint is mainly used to treat diseases related to the heart, stomach, and spleen, such as angina, palpitations, chest fullness, rebellious Qi, stomach ache, vomiting, hematemesis, fever, rubella, cholera, head shaking, pale complexion, and elbow and arm tendon spasm pain.

Modern applications of Quze Acupoint include the treatment of rheumatic heart disease, myocarditis, acute gastroenteritis, brachial neuralgia, and chorea in children.

Circulatory system diseases: angina pectoris, rheumatic heart disease, myocarditis;

Others: acute gastroenteritis, bronchitis, heatstroke, chorea in children, etc.

[How to Find the Location of Quze Acupoint?]

Quze Acupoint is located in the middle of the elbow crease, on the ulnar side of the tendon of the biceps brachii muscle, and can be found by slightly flexing the elbow.

Quze Acupoint is located in the anterior elbow region, above the elbow crease, in the depression on the ulnar side of the tendon of the biceps brachii muscle, with the palm facing up and the elbow slightly flexed.

  1. Location Method

Find Quze Acupoint by locating the depression on the ulnar side of the tendon of the biceps brachii muscle in the anterior elbow region, above the elbow crease, with the palm facing up and the elbow slightly flexed.

  2. Anatomical Position

Located on the ulnar side of the tendon of the biceps brachii muscle; where the brachial artery and vein are located; the main trunk of the median nerve is distributed here, and beneath it are the skin, subcutaneous tissue, median nerve, and brachial muscle. The skin is innervated by the medial cutaneous nerve of the arm, and the skin lines are deeper.

In addition to the above-mentioned cutaneous nerve, there is also the important basilic vein, which starts from the ulnar side of the dorsal venous network of the hand, rises above the ulnar side of the forearm, turns to the front below the elbow pit, and here it receives the median basilic vein, then it goes up along the inner edge of the biceps brachii muscle and enters the brachial vein through the deep fascia at the midpoint of the arm.

The needle passes through the skin, subcutaneous fascia, and anterior brachial fascia, between the important basilic vein and the median basilic vein, and directly punctures the main trunk of the median nerve and the deep surface of the brachial muscle. This muscle is innervated by the musculocutaneous nerve.

  3. Hierarchical Anatomy:

Skin → Subcutaneous tissue → Median nerve → Brachial muscle.

The main trunk of the median nerve and the brachial artery and vein are distributed here.

[The Efficacy and Function of Quze Acupoint]

Quze Acupoint has the functions of clearing summer heat, regulating stomach, and clearing heat and detoxifying.

Quze Acupoint has the functions of regulating heart Qi, harmonizing the intestines and stomach, and relieving blood heat.

Quze Acupoint is the confluent point of the Pericardium Meridian and has the function of substituting for the heart, thus it can treat chest pain and palpitations.

The pericardium is connected with the Triple Energizer, and Quze Acupoint is a confluent point, which is good at treating "rebellious Qi with purging". Therefore, Quze Acupoint is used to treat vomiting and diarrhea in gastrointestinal diseases.
