Facial pigmentation is generally caused by poor blood circulation in the body. It can be treated by using different massage techniques, targeting the pigmented areas on the skin. This helps to improve local blood circulation and disperse the accumulated melanin between the epidermis and dermis, causing it to spread outward.
Four methods of massage for facial pigmentation:
1. Finger pressing method:
Straighten the thumb and curl the other four fingers. Use the tip of the thumb to press the center of the pigmented area. The pressing direction should be vertical. Apply gradual and continuous pressure, ensuring that the stimulation reaches between the epidermis and dermis. Avoid sudden force or shaking after applying pressure. Press from the center towards the edges of the pigmented area.
2. Finger rubbing method:
Use the pad of the thumb to make circular motions on the designated points. Apply gentle and even pressure, with a rhythm of 50-60 circles per minute. Focus on the area between the epidermis and dermis, spending about half a minute on each point. The goal is to loosen the pigments in a small area.
3. Finger wiping method:
Use the side of the thumb and the tip of the index finger to make straight-line strokes from the inner to outer area of the designated points. Apply balanced pressure and maintain a slow wiping speed. The force should be light but not floating, and heavy but not stagnant. This helps to spread the loosened melanin towards the surrounding areas.
4. Palm rubbing method:
Rub the palms together to generate heat, then place the palms on the entire pigmented area. Perform circular and rhythmic rubbing motions, in either clockwise or counterclockwise direction, at a frequency of approximately 50-60 times per minute. This helps to further disperse the pigment already spread locally to a wider area, facilitating faster absorption.
