Finding the 'Health Bible': Maintaining Physical and Mental Health for Men

December 3, 2023

Keeping both physical and mental health is a common desire for everyone. As age increases, both our physiology and psychology undergo continuous changes, and we are constantly exposed to various diseases. So, how can men maintain their physical and mental health and find their own "health bible"?

Emphasizing mental health

When it comes to men's health, physical health is closely related to mental health. If men want to maintain their physical and mental health, the first thing they need to overcome is psychological issues. It is an undeniable fact that men live under a great deal of pressure, especially middle-aged men who have to bear the heavy responsibilities of work, taking care of elderly parents, and raising and educating their children. As a result, they become the group with the heaviest psychological burden. Psychologists say that men who are under high levels of stress and enormous mental pressure every day tend to experience various mental illnesses such as mental fatigue, irritability, distrust of others, and reluctance to communicate. Therefore, psychologists remind men who experience these symptoms to actively adjust their mindset, reduce stress in a timely manner, and overcome various psychological crises.

Breaking out of health misconceptions

Men have always been known for enduring illnesses without informing their families or seeking medical help. Especially when it comes to diseases related to the reproductive system, due to "face" concerns, they are even more reluctant to seek treatment at professional hospitals and instead choose to secretly visit small clinics or self-medicate by purchasing random drugs. They often believe that taking some medicine will get them through the illness, but this often leads to delayed treatment, wasted time, and increased harm to their health. Doctors remind men that if they do discover a problem, they should go to a specialized hospital for corresponding professional examinations. The doctor will guide them on taking proper medication based on their condition. If they don't go to the hospital for a long time, minor illnesses can turn into major ones, resulting in a delay in the best time for early treatment.

Annual check-ups as a control measure

When the body feels uncomfortable, men should never "tough it out". Experts remind men not to overlook the following key areas and examinations during their annual check-ups: blood pressure and cholesterol checks, hepatitis B and C antibody tests, protein metabolism tests, abdominal ultrasounds, prostate examinations, testicular examinations, colon examinations, etc.

Finally, experts emphasize that men should not keep their psychological problems to themselves to avoid the accumulation of negative emotions leading to mental disorders. For men who experience high work pressure and heavy psychological burdens, they should seek psychological counseling appropriately and seek help from psychologists to maintain psychological balance and safeguard their physical and mental health.
