Caring for Neutral Skin: Tips for Men's Skincare

December 18, 2023

Neutrogenic skin is characterized by a rosy and smooth complexion, with moderate sebum secretion and smooth excretion of sweat and sebaceous glands. It has a certain tolerance to external stimuli such as wind and sun exposure. Its pH value is between 5-5.6, making it the ideal skin type. However, neutral skin still requires careful care to maintain its good condition. Modern men are increasingly concerned about their appearance, and men's skincare products are emerging. Compared to women, men spend more time outdoors, exposing their skin to dust and wind and sun, which can cause a certain degree of damage to men's skin.

How should men care for neutral skin?

In caring for neutral skin, it is important to choose skincare products appropriate for the climate and environment. In summer, a lotion-type moisturizer should be chosen to ensure the skin remains fresh and clean. In autumn and winter, a slightly oilier cream can be used to prevent dry and rough skin. If neutral skin is not properly cared for, it may become dry skin in middle age, and care should be taken using methods suitable for dry skin.

For daily care, it is recommended to choose high-quality beauty soap or facial cleanser that moisturizes the skin. It is important to adhere to a daily skincare routine and maintain a good condition. Generally, washing the face twice a day is sufficient. Neutral skin usually has smaller pores and is less prone to oiliness. Therefore, deep cleansing products should not be used frequently. If necessary, they can be used according to individual circumstances. After cleansing in the morning, a toner can be used to tighten the skin, followed by applying a nourishing cream and evenly spreading foundation on the face. In the evening, a moisturizing cream or lotion can be used to hydrate the skin, making it soft and elastic. A nourishing toner can also be used to maintain the skin in a balanced state.

For neutral skin, it is recommended to use a face mask once a week for 15-20 minutes. Common methods include beating an egg white until foamy and applying it to the face for 20 minutes, then rinsing with warm water followed by cold water. Mixing one tablespoon of lukewarm honey with one teaspoon of lemon juice, applying it to the face, and leaving it on for 30 minutes or longer is also effective. Mixing one tablespoon of honey with one tablespoon of yogurt, applying it to a damp face, leaving it on for 15 minutes, and then rinsing with warm water is another option.

Neutral skin is easily influenced by seasonal changes, becoming oily in summer and dry in winter. Therefore, neutral skin should not be neglected just because it is considered normal. Proper care should be taken according to the different seasons to ensure the smooth secretion of sebaceous and sweat glands and maintain the skin in good condition to prevent dehydration and oil deficiency. It is important for those with neutral skin to supplement essential vitamins and proteins in their diet, consume fruits, vegetables, soy products, and dairy products, and maintain a positive and happy mood. Excessive use of cosmetics, smoking and alcohol, and spicy foods should be avoided. Engaging in outdoor activities in moderation can contribute to healthier and more natural skin. Adequate diet and sleep, as well as a positive mindset, are essential for maintaining the appropriate elasticity of the skin.
