The scraping board is a tool used for scraping. Only by using the scraping board correctly can it have the effect of health preservation and disease treatment. The scraping board is divided into a thick side, a thin side, and sharp corners. When treating diseases, the thin side is mostly used to scrape the skin, while the thick side is mostly used for health preservation. The sharp corners are mostly used for pressing acupuncture points near the Tianjie and when acupuncture points need to be pressed. When operating, it is important to master the "three degrees in one direction" technique, which promotes the emergence of sha, shortens the stimulation time, controls the intensity of stimulation, and reduces the feeling of local pain. The following will provide a detailed introduction on how to use the scraping board.
1. Angle
This refers to the angle formed between the scraping board and the skin. When the scraping board is perpendicular to the skin, it provides the strongest stimulation to the skin, making it easier to produce sha, but it also tends to cause pain. When the angle between the scraping board and the skin is less than 90 degrees, it is not as easy to produce sha as when it is perpendicular to the skin, and it is less painful. In general, maintaining an angle of 60 degrees is sufficient.
2. Speed
This refers to the speed at which the skin is scraped. The faster the scraping speed, the shallower the depth at which the scraping board cuts into the skin, resulting in slower sha production. Conversely, the slower the scraping speed, the higher the sensitivity and the faster sha production. When using the scraping board, the key to technique lies in the mastery and control of force and speed.
3. Force
This refers to the strength used when using the scraping board. The greater the force used, the easier it is to produce sha, and the higher the patient's sensitivity. Conversely, the lighter the force used, the shallower the cutting of the scraping board into the skin, making it less likely to produce sha, and the lower the patient's sensitivity. Excessive force may cause local skin breakage, while insufficient force will not achieve the desired therapeutic effect. Therefore, the requirement for force is to be "heavy but not rigid, light but not floating".
4. Direction
This refers to the direction in which the force is applied to the scraping board. When the force comes from the back of the scraping board and is used to push the scraping, it provides a stronger stimulation to the skin, making it easier to produce sha. When the force comes from the front of the scraping board and is used to pull the scraping, it is less likely to produce sha, but the patient may feel more comfortable.
