Preventing Premature Graying: Food Therapy Recipes to Darken Hair

As we age, it is normal for our kidneys to weaken and our hair to turn white. However, premature graying of hair in young and middle-aged individuals can be a cause for concern. So, how can we eliminate and prevent premature graying of hair? We can consider using some of the foods we eat daily, along with appropriate Chinese herbal medicine, which not only provide nutrition but also treat diseases. Here are several food therapy recipes with the function of darkening hair, for everyone to choose from.

Longan and Lotus Seed Porridge: 10g of longan flesh, 15g of lotus seeds, 10g of Chinese dates, 50g of glutinous rice. Cook them into porridge and consume twice a day for 15-30 days.

Sesame and Jujube Paste: 1000g of black sesame, 500g of jujube (without skin and pit). Crush the jujubes into a paste and mix it with the black sesame. Consume twice a day, 9g each time.

Fo-ti, Goji, and Jujube Egg: 20g of Fo-ti, 15g of goji berries, 6 jujubes, 2 eggs. Cook the herbs with the eggs until they are done, remove the herbal residue, and consume the egg and drink the soup. Take one dose daily for 10-15 days.

Sesame and Walnut Sugar Block: 250g of black sesame, 250g of walnut kernels, 250g of rock sugar. Roast and grind the black sesame and walnut kernels into a powder. Cook the rock sugar with a little water on low heat until it thickens, then mix in the black sesame and walnut kernels. Pour the mixture into a greased porcelain dish, let it cool, flatten the sugar, and cut into pieces to consume. Fo-ti and Mulberry Juice: 150g of Fo-ti, 100g of mulberry, 50g of black sesame, 2 pieces of daylily, 30 white fruit, 15g of balloon flower. Grind them into a fine powder. Consume 10g after breakfast daily for a month to grow black hair.

Fo-ti and Sesame Paste: 10g of Fo-ti, 25g of black sesame, sugar to taste. Roast the Fo-ti and black sesame and grind them into a fine powder. Mix with sugar and consume by dissolving in hot water. Take two doses daily, with each dose being one for 15 days.

Black Bean and Chinese Yam Porridge: 25g of black beans, 25g of Chinese yam, 25g of prepared aconite, 5 jujubes, 25g of glutinous rice. Cook them into porridge and consume one dose daily for 15 days.

Mulberry and Chinese Plum Porridge: 50g of mulberry, 10g of Chinese plum, 15g of goji berries, 50g of glutinous rice. Cook them into porridge and consume one dose daily for 15 days.

Fo-ti and Rehmannia Porridge: 30g of prepared Fo-ti, 30g of prepared rehmannia, 15g of angelica, 50g of glutinous rice. Cook them into porridge and consume one dose daily for 15 days.

Fo-ti Boiled Egg: 1 egg, 60g of Fo-ti, boil them in water for 15 minutes. Peel the eggshell and put the egg back in the herbal mixture to cook for a while. Eat the egg and drink the soup after removing the herbal residue. This can replenish the kidneys and nourish the liver. It is effective for white hair, dizziness, and premature aging.

Fo-ti Chicken Soup: 1 black-bone chicken (about 600g), 50g of Fo-ti, 50g of Chinese yam, ginger and yellow wine as needed. Slaughter the black-bone chicken and remove the inedible parts. Stuff the Fo-ti and Chinese yam into the chicken's belly, add ginger and yellow wine in a clay pot, add about 1000ml of water, bring it to a boil over high heat, then simmer until tender. Season with salt and consume. Take one dose every two days, with 7 doses being one course of treatment.
