Navigating Autumn Cravings: Tips for Controlling Appetite and Managing Weight

After the hot summer, autumn arrives and with it comes an increase in appetite. Taste buds become more sensitive and we unconsciously overeat. Many people who used to be able to lose weight easily find it difficult to shed pounds during the autumn season. So, how should we navigate through this season of increased cravings?

Control portion sizes

During autumn, it is important to avoid overeating or going hungry. Such uneven eating habits can disrupt the secretion of digestive fluids and lead to liver dysfunction. It is advisable to maintain a balanced diet, consume high-quality protein, and eat more nourishing and moisturizing foods while cutting back on spicy foods.

Go to bed and wake up early

When there are no important tasks to attend to, it is recommended to go to bed early instead of staying up late. Watching television or chatting can tempt us to play with our phones, and when hunger strikes, it is better to go to sleep. For those who can't fall asleep due to a growling stomach, engaging in light activities can help induce sleep.

Eat smaller, frequent meals

For those with a strong appetite during autumn, adopting a smaller, more frequent meal pattern can help alleviate the constant cravings. Stick to three regular meals and reduce calorie intake. When the desire to eat strikes between meals, opt for filling yet low-calorie foods or fruits.

Choose low-calorie foods

People with increased appetite in autumn should reduce the intake of high-calorie foods. Instead, opt for low-calorie options such as seaweed and mushrooms. Engage in appropriate exercise to enhance calorie digestion. When energy intake and expenditure are balanced, there will be no accumulation of fat and a reduced risk of obesity.
