Safety precautions for outbound travel

September 10, 2023
"No one wants to get sick or injured on a trip, but sometimes these unfortunate things can happen unexpectedly. You can't anticipate the future, but you can plan ahead and save for a rainy day. Once you do face problems, you can calmly defuse the dangers one by one. Come along and read the travel safety guide.

Seek medical attention if you have any of the following symptoms before you leave

Obvious illnesses such as severe headache, weakness, yellowing of the skin or eyes; fever of 38°C or higher; skin rash; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; severe coughing that does not stop for a long time; skin bruising or bleeding without trauma; prolonged diarrhea with no sign of improvement; prolonged vomiting with no sign of improvement. If you or a family member has any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention and consult a doctor before deciding whether you can travel.

Shop wisely for travel health insurance

Before you travel, choose a health insurance product that is suitable for the whole family. Don't take the salesman's word for it lightly, read the terms and conditions of the insurance, the benefit provisions and other details, and make sure that the insurance covers the area you are going to visit and the duration of the trip. Although you have insurance, you still need to bring cash or credit cards to avoid problems with the insurance and delays in medical appointments at your travel destination.

Pay attention to vaccination

If your destination is tropical or in a region with poor sanitation, it is recommended that you take immunization measures - vaccinations - 4 to 6 weeks prior to your trip, as most vaccines take a while to take effect. Consult your doctor before vaccination, for example, if you have an allergic disease or are pregnant, whether you are suitable for a certain vaccine; what are the appropriate vaccines for your child, etc.

Travel medicine kit list

Antibiotics prescribed by a doctor for moderate to severe diarrhea and colds; general anti-diarrhea medication (safranin, etc.); anti-motion sickness medication; pain or fever reducers (such as acetaminophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen); cough and expectorant drops; cortisone ointment; mosquito repellent; antibacterial wipes or alcohol-based hand sanitizer; anti-dry eye drops; first aid quick reference card; basic first aid supplies (bandages, gauze, iodine, tweezers scissors, cotton swabs, band-aids); aloe vera gel to relieve sunburn; digital thermometer; melatonin and other health products to help you sleep; medication to prevent altitude sickness; water purification tablets; condoms.
