What happens when you eat too many carbohydrates

September 9, 2023
Carbohydrates, also known as sugar compounds, are the most abundant and widely distributed class of important organic compounds in nature. Glucose, sucrose, starch and cellulose are all sugar compounds.

Causes obesity

The purity of refined white sugar in carbohydrates is very high, reaching more than 99%, which means that it contains almost no other nutrients, only a lot of energy. Eating more sweets makes a person feel full because of too much energy intake, affecting the intake of other foods rich in protein, vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. Excess sugar can also be converted into fat on its own, affecting the normal appetite, preventing the intake of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, leading to human obesity.

Causes triglycerides

For middle-aged women should eat less carbohydrates (sweets), so as not to make the blood glucose concentration too high, causing hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis, obesity, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis and other diseases, thus endangering health. American researchers have found that eating too many sweets in women around the age of 50 can lead to gallstones.

Prone to breast cancer

Eating too many carbohydrates (sugars) can also promote the probability of good breast cancer. According to research, long-term intake of high-sugar foods can make the insulin level in the blood often at a high level, and early breast cancer cells need a lot of insulin to grow. The insulin that is absorbed by the breast in large amounts plays a role in the growth and reproduction of breast cancer cells.

Prone to aging

Eating too much carbohydrates (sugar) also accelerates the aging of cells, making the body less adaptable to the environment and turning the hair yellow and gray. When sugar is left in the mouth, bacteria will multiply and form some organic acids and enzymes, which will directly destroy teeth, decalcify and corrode teeth, and form tooth decay. Therefore, middle-aged and elderly women should not eat more sweets.

Easy to fracture

Eating too much carbohydrates (white sugar) makes the metabolism in the body need to consume many vitamins and minerals, therefore, eating sugar often will cause vitamin deficiency, calcium deficiency, potassium deficiency and other nutritional problems. Japanese nutritionists believe that too much carbohydrates (sweets) for children is an important reason for the increase in fracture rate; American nutritionists also point out that children who love sweets have a higher fracture rate.

Triggering chronic diseases

Although eating sugar may not directly lead to diabetes, long-term consumption of large amounts of sweets can cause excessive insulin secretion and disruption of carbohydrate and fat metabolism, causing an imbalance in the body's internal environment, which in turn promotes the occurrence of many chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, senile cataracts, dental caries, myopia, and rickets. Eat more sweets will also make the human blood tends to be acidic, which is not conducive to blood circulation, and weaken the defense function of the immune system.
