How to brush your teeth is correct

March 27, 2023

For most people brushing their teeth is the only way to keep their mouth clean. This is because brushing eliminates food residue, some plaque and other dirt in the mouth. By brushing your teeth you can effectively maintain your oral health, reduce the risk of oral diseases and protect your oral tissues; in addition, brushing plays an important role in preventing oral periodontal disease and cavity disease. So what is the right way to brush your teeth?

Physiological brushing method

Keep the toothbrush bristles perpendicular to the tooth surface and gently brush up and down from the crown toward the gums, somewhat like the frictional action of teeth shredding fibrous food when eating. By doing this, you can improve blood circulation to the gums, effectively remove plaque and clean the gaps.

Bice brushing method

As shown in the first step of the diagram, hold the toothbrush at an angle of 45 degrees to the gum line and sweep the toothbrush from the gum line; then as shown in the second step, place the toothbrush bristles into the gum sulcus area and do a short back and forth brushing chattering motion; the third step is to gently brush the surface of the tongue with the toothbrush.

This method has a strong cleaning ability, effectively removes dental bacteria, freshens breath, massages the gums and avoids causing wedge-shaped defects in the neck of the teeth and gum recession.

Rotary brushing method

As shown in the figure above, this brushing method rotates the teeth from the gums toward the crown. When cleaning the lingual and palatal surfaces of the posterior teeth, the labial surfaces of the anterior teeth, and the buccal surfaces of the posterior teeth, the bristles of the toothbrush are pointed toward the gums and the upper teeth are brushed downward and the lower teeth are brushed downward. Keep the bristles at an angle of 45 degrees to the tooth surface.

There are many disadvantages to the horizontal brushing that people like to use in their life, even if they brush for 10 minutes, it is not as effective as the above method of brushing for 3 minutes to remove plaque. The above three methods can be used according to your own washing good choice, and can also be used in combination when you are skilled.
