Children who love to exercise are healthier and perform better than their peers in intelligence tests.
Exercise boosts intelligence
Kids, why you should exercise and sweat more? Because an hour of exercise a day for you young people can improve mental development. This is according to a study done by the journal Pediatrics. The project had more than 200 participants.
Children who exercise more often perform better
Few children between the ages of 7 and 9 choose to participate in physical activity after school, or they put it on the back burner of their schedule. Those who chose to participate in after-school exercise performed significantly better on IQ tests. And there was also a significant dosage effect, with children who spent more time exercising in physical activity classes performing better than children who enrolled in exercise classes but rarely participated in sports.
American Kids Exercise Profile
The U.S. Government Guidebook recommends early on that children ages 6 to 17 should participate in at least one hour of moderate-to-high intensity physical activity each day, but many children do not meet this standard.
To summarize
This study was not able to address the question of which of the increased health benefits of exercise and socialization in sports programs made the children more cognitively active and how much better. But there are other studies that show that exercise has a positive effect that is better than just socialization. Either way, more exercise is definitely a win-win.
