What is Tianpeng grass

Tianpeng grass is the whole grass of the plant Quezecao in the Caryophyllaceae family, also known as Bin Fanlv. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, 15-30cm tall. The stem is slender, clustered, prostrate at the lower part, and sparsely branched at the upper part, green or purple.

Leaves are opposite; sessile; leaf blades are oblong or lanceolate, 5-20mm long, 2-3mm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, gradually narrowed at the base, with entire or shallow wavy margins, and hairless on both sides.

The inflorescence is umbel-like, terminal or axillary; the pedicel is slender like silk; the bracts and bracteoles are smaller; the sepals are lanceolate, pointed at the apex, membranous at the edge, and smooth;

The petals are white, about the same length as or slightly shorter than the sepals, and deeply divided into two to the base; the stamens are 5; the ovary is ovoid, with 2-3 styles.

The capsule is slightly longer than the persistent sepals, and splits into 6 lobes when mature, with numerous seeds inside. The seeds are kidney-shaped, brown, with wrinkled surface. It flowers from April to November, and fruits from June to December.


Efficacy and function of Tianpeng grass

Tianpeng grass has the effects of dispelling wind and dampness, promoting blood circulation and reducing swelling, detoxifying and stopping bleeding. It is commonly used for common cold, diarrhea, dysentery, rheumatism and bone pain, sprains and fractures, carbuncles, abscesses, hemorrhoids, snake bites, vomiting blood, nosebleeds, and external bleeding.

2. Treatment for infant diarrhea: 30g of Tianpeng grass, 60g of Portulaca oleracea. Decoction and take orally.

3. Treatment for hemorrhoids: Grind the Xueli flower into powder, mix it with sesame oil for external application one or two times, and the hemorrhoids will shrink.

4. Treatment for sprains and fractures: 30g of Quezecao, 60-120g of yellow wine. Add an appropriate amount of water, decoct and take orally.

5. Treatment for carbuncles: Take an appropriate amount of fresh Quezecao. Mash it with a little salt and apply it externally.

6. Treatment for snake bites: 30-60g of Quezecao. Decoction and take orally. Take another handful, wash it clean, mash it and apply it to the wound.
