January 6, 2024

Our body accumulates toxins, which can seriously harm our health. However, we often don't know where these toxins come from. It is necessary for everyone to pay attention to their own body and regularly detoxify. So what are the eight methods of traditional Chinese medicine detoxification?

Everyone should pay attention to their own body and regularly detoxify. Only through detoxification can we ensure the health of our body. So, what are the benefits of detoxification?

Detoxification has always been considered an effective method for maintaining beauty, health, and strong body. Colon cleansing and fasting have been popular forms of detoxification. However, colon cleansing can be done occasionally, as long-term repeated stimulation can cause paralysis of the intestines, leading to certain diseases caused by human factors.

Fasting detoxification methods also vary from person to person and from time to time. When working under excessive load or when the body is weak, not eating when it is time to eat can cause symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, and hypoglycemia, which are not beneficial to health. Traditional Chinese medicine has eight natural methods of detoxification, which not only eliminate toxins but also can be understood as resolving diseases. The specific methods are:

Sweating method: Excreting toxins through sweating. This can be achieved through exercise or taking herbal decoctions that dispel cold toxins to induce sweating and detoxification.

Vomiting method: This refers to induced vomiting. If one accidentally ingests medication or consumes moldy or toxic food, drinking warm water with salt can help induce vomiting.

Purging method: This is used to eliminate certain foods or toxins in the gastrointestinal tract, including acute enteritis, which can be treated by purging.

Harmonizing method: When suffering from a cold or fever, where the disease is half on the surface and half inside, symptoms such as bitter taste in the mouth, dry throat, and dizziness may occur. The method used is harmonizing, with the representative prescription being the Minor Bupleurum Decoction.

Warming method: Mainly used for spleen and stomach, or gastrointestinal weakness and cold. This method involves using physical methods such as warm water bags or drinking hot water, or taking warm stomach-tonifying drugs for treatment.

Clearing method: This is used for clearing heat and detoxification. When patients experience high fever, dry mouth and throat, and soreness in the body, the clearing method is used. The representative prescription is the Coptis Decoction for Detoxification.

Digesting method: When people eat too much and their stomachs cannot digest it, or when the body experiences bloating, digestive aids such as hawthorn pills can be used to help eliminate food.

Tonifying method: When patients have weak qi and blood, numbness in the hands and feet, or general weakness, they need to use tonifying methods. However, many tonifying methods should not be used randomly, as they depend on whether the body is deficient or excessive. Most tonifying medications are warm in nature, and taking tonics indiscriminately can result in an imbalance of yin and yang, leading to new diseases. Modern people often like to take multivitamin pills, but before taking them, it is important to determine what nutrients are lacking. Whether it is Chinese or Western medicine, treating the problem according to the specific condition is the best solution.
