The purpose of quitting smoking is to reduce the patient's interest in smoking and change their perception of the taste of cigarettes. After undergoing smoking cessation treatment, some patients may find that the taste of cigarettes becomes bitter, weak, grassy, tasteless, or even overwhelming and intolerable. Some patients may also experience excessive phlegm or dry discomfort in the throat after quitting smoking. Numerous clinical research studies have confirmed that the more pronounced these abnormal sensations are after treatment, the better the smoking cessation effect.
There is no record of smoking cessation in ancient Chinese medical texts. However, "smoke" is a toxic substance that, when inhaled for a long time, can cause a series of pathological changes in the body, leading to imbalances in yin and yang, abnormal ascension and descent, and disorder in qi and blood circulation.
Cupping therapy
Symptoms of liver and kidney yin deficiency include dizziness, tinnitus, soreness and weakness in the lower back and knees, and may also present with yang leakage, nocturnal emission, insomnia, forgetfulness, red tongue with little coating, and a thin and wiry pulse.
Treatment: Tonify the liver and kidney, nourish yin and subdue yang.
Acupoints: Mainly select acupoints from the Foot Shaoyin and Foot Jueyin meridians, such as Zhangmen, Xingjian, Taixi, Shenshu, Shuiquan, and Ganyu points. Procedure: Apply cupping therapy using a single cup on the aforementioned acupoints. Glass, bamboo, or pottery cups can all be used. If using medicated cups, it is recommended to use formulas that tonify yin and subdue yang, such as Longdan Xiegan Tang or Liuwei Dihuang Wan, and retain the medication. The Ganyu and Shenshu points can help tonify the liver and kidney, and promote the production of essence and nourish the blood.
