The cupping therapy combined with traditional Chinese medicine is a treatment method known as the cupping therapy. It utilizes bamboo or wooden cups as tools. After boiling the medicinal liquid, the air inside the cups is expelled through high heat, creating a negative pressure that allows the cups to adhere to the treatment area. This method not only provides the warm and stimulating effects of cupping, but also allows for the pharmacological effects of traditional Chinese medicine, thereby enhancing the therapeutic effect of cupping. Different Chinese herbal medicines can be selected based on the patient's condition. The specific operation method involves using a large ceramic pot or a specially designed electric pot. The Chinese herbs are first wrapped in gauze and placed in the pot, along with an appropriate amount of water for decoction. After extracting the medicinal properties, the bamboo or wooden cups are placed into the decoction and boiled for about 10 minutes (the boiling time can generally be determined based on the medicinal properties). The cups are then quickly clamped out with tweezers or chopsticks, covered with a clean dry towel to absorb the liquid and reduce the temperature of the cup mouth, while maintaining the heat inside the cups. The cups are then quickly placed on the selected area, and slight pressure is applied for about half a minute to ensure a secure attachment. The advantages of this method are its good warm and stimulating effects, as it combines the effects of cupping and herbal medicine, and it is commonly used for conditions such as cold, cough, asthma, rheumatism, ulcer disease, chronic gastritis, indigestion, and psoriasis.
