The bamboo jar is made from bamboo shavings. It is made from fine-haired bamboo, cut into cylindrical shapes, with one end left with a node as the base and the other end shaved flat and polished. Through processing, it is shaped like a waist drum. The mouth of the jar is 1 inch, 1.5 inches, or 2 inches in diameter, and the length of the jar is about 2 to 3 inches, with a wall thickness of about 2 to 3 millimeters.
Modern bamboo jars are mainly used for water extraction and medicine storage, and can also be used for fire cupping.
Bamboo jars have the advantages of low price, wide availability of materials, lightweight, and not easily breakable. However, they also have some disadvantages. Firstly, they have weak suction power and are prone to drying, cracking, and air leakage, which can affect the effectiveness of cupping. Secondly, when bamboo jars are used for fire cupping, they are prone to contamination because they are not easy to disinfect.
