Wide Tinospora, also known as Stretching Tinospora, Soft Tinospora, and Loose Tinospora. It is recorded in "Guangxi Veterinary Medicinal Plants". It is the stem of Tinospora sinensis (Lour.) Merr., a plant of the Menispermaceae family. It can be harvested all year round, washed, cut into thick slices, and dried or used fresh.
[Processing Method] Take the original medicinal material, remove impurities; if not sliced, wash it, soak it in water until about 60-70% transparency, remove it, keep it moist until it is transparent, cut into thick slices, and dry.
[Characteristics of Prepared Pieces] It is a round-shaped thick slice, with a yellow-brown or light brown surface, smooth, with longitudinal grooves or transverse cracks. The cross-section has a radial pattern of alternating light yellow and white, with numerous small pores and a medullary part in the center. It is hard in texture, slightly fragrant, and bitter in taste.
[Processing Effects] Wide Tinospora has a slightly bitter and cool taste. It belongs to the liver meridian. It has the functions of dispelling wind, relieving pain, and relaxing muscles. It is mostly used raw for rheumatism, lumbar muscle strain, and bruises. After processing, the medicinal material becomes clean, making it easier to mix and dissolve the ingredients.
