Purple river cart is also known as Baoyi, Hunyuan Dan, Taiyi, and placenta. It is processed from the placenta of a healthy person, as mentioned in "Mei Shi Fang".

[Processing method] 1. Purple river cart in "Ben Cao Meng Quan": "Put it in boiling water, wash off the tendons and membranes, or bake it on a new tile until it wrinkles." "Ji Yin Gang Mu": "Wash away the impure blood in clean water, use a silver needle to pick out the purple tendons." "Ben Jing Feng Yuan": "Take a small, thick and fresh placenta, pick out the blood vessels, clean the blood water, put it in a handful of pepper, soak it in boiling water to remove the fishy smell, mix it with honey and running water, cook it in an old tin pot over a gentle fire until it becomes mushy like gruel, strain out the impurities, and make it into pill-like medicine with honey." Currently, the original medicinal materials are taken, the ashes are removed, and they are crushed into small pieces or ground into fine powder.

2. Wine purple river cart in "Shou Shi Bao Yuan": "Cook it into a paste with wine." Currently, take the clean purple river cart, mix it with wine, wait for it to absorb, then fry it over low heat until crispy, and grind it into powder when using.

3. Sichuan pepper and wine processed purple river cart in "Chuan Xin Shi Yong Fang": "Wash the blood vessels in flowing water, put them in a pot with three sheng of ash-free water, one large handful of Sichuan pepper, cook them slowly in a sandstone ceramic pot, when the wine is about to run out, remove the fire and let it cool, take out the pepper, put only the river cart in a large sand basin, grind it with a large wooden pestle until it becomes like mud, spread it out to cool and wrap it up." "Introduction to Medicine and Compendium of Materia Medica": "Wash it clean, use half a bowl of wine, a little Sichuan pepper, put them in a sand pot, paste paper on the mouth, dry it over low heat, it is better to have one and a half liang of it, and then grind it into powder for use." "Songya Zunsheng": "Take one, wash away the purple blood and put it in a bottle, add a cup of wine and a penny of Sichuan pepper, seal and cook, remove the pepper." Currently, take fresh purple river cart, cut the blood vessels horizontally and vertically, wash them repeatedly with water until clean, and drain. Take Sichuan pepper and put it in a cloth bag, add water and boil it, remove the residue, put the washed purple river cart in the Sichuan pepper soup and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, then remove it in time, drain the water, mix it well with yellow wine, steam it thoroughly in a steamer, take it out, and dry it. For every 100 purple river carts, use 120g of Sichuan pepper and 1.5kg of yellow wine. Grind it into fine powder or crush it into small pieces when using.

4. Licorice, honeysuckle, and wine processed purple river cart: Take the clean purple river cart, add half the amount of yellow wine and mix well, then add honeysuckle and licorice to decoct for 15 minutes, mix thoroughly with the remaining yellow wine, and dry it over low heat. For every 100 purple river carts, use 0.3kg of honeysuckle, 0.3kg of licorice, and 3kg of yellow wine.
