"Ju Fang": "For all uses, first remove the coarse skin and the wooden heart, grind it into powder, and bake it until dry." "Ben Cao Shu Gou Yuan": "Remove the wood, first remove the skin of Fu Shen, finely grind it, put it in a sieve, put it in a water basin, sift it, remove the tendons and membranes, clarify the water, take the fine powder at the bottom of the water, dry it in the sun, and then mix it with human milk for steaming three or four times, or five or six times is better, each Fu Shen is one or two, steamed into two or two." Currently, take the original medicinal material, separate the large and small ones, soak them, wash them clean, moisten them, steam them slightly, and cut them into thick slices or pieces while hot, and dry them. If the processed slices from the place of origin are available, remove the ash debris by sieving.
2. Zhu Fu Shen: Take Fu Shen slices, spray with clean water, moisten them slightly, add cinnabar powder, spread it evenly, and turn them over from time to time until the surface of Fu Shen is covered with cinnabar. For every 100 kg of Fu Shen slices, use 2 kg of cinnabar.
[Characteristics of medicinal slices] Fu Shen is square thin slices, about 1.5mm thick, of different sizes, white or grayish-white in color, with cut brownish-yellow pine roots and circular textures (annual rings) visible on one side or in the middle of the slice. It is solid in texture and has a powdery quality. It has no odor and a mild taste. Zhu Fu Shen is shaped like Fu Shen, with a red surface.
[Processing effects] Fu Shen has a sweet and mild taste and is neutral in nature. It enters the heart and spleen meridians. It has the functions of calming the mind, tranquilizing the spirit, and promoting diuresis. It is mostly used for palpitations, dizziness, forgetfulness, insomnia, epilepsy, and difficulty urinating. For example, the Zhu Que Pill (Bai Yi Xuan Fang) is used to treat the unsteady mind and restlessness; the Fu Shen Pill (Yang Shi Jia Cang Fang) is used to treat heart deficiency and restless sleep; the Fu Shen Decoction (Sheng Ji Zong Lu) is used to treat fatigue, restlessness, and insomnia; the Jiao Gan Dan (Yi Xue Ru Men) is used to treat heart and kidney disharmony, palpitations, and distention. After the slices are processed and sliced, the cleanliness of the medicine can be improved, which is conducive to the dissolution of the effective components and facilitates dispensing and formulation. Zhu Fu Shen can enhance the functions of calming the mind and tranquilizing the spirit, and is mostly used for palpitations, dizziness, forgetfulness, and insomnia.
[Processing research] The processing methods of Fu Shen are similar to those of Fu Ling, mainly including baking, stir-frying, drying with arrowroot and lampwick, boiling with rice water, and making into milk. "Fear of dryness, steam with human milk" ("Ben Cao Hui"); "Use human milk for supplementation. If used for treating external evil, it is unnecessary to take the fine powder at the bottom of the water, just remove the tendons" ("Ben Cao Shu Gou Yuan").
