It refers to the vine stems of Erycibe obtusfolia Benth. or Erycibe schmidtii Craib. It can be harvested throughout the year, washed, cut into sections or slices, and dried.
[Processing Method] Take the original medicinal material, remove impurities, wash thoroughly, cut into thick slices, steam until cooked through, and then dry.
[Appearance of Prepared Medicinal Material] It appears as irregular thick slices, elliptical in shape, with one side yellowish-brown or light yellow-brown. The wood part is wide and yellowish-brown, with irregular patterns (heteromorphic vascular bundles) and numerous small holes, with medullary centers that may not be obvious in some cases. The periphery is grayish-yellow, gray-brown, or light brown. It is hard in texture, odorless, and has a mild taste.
[Processing Effects] Ding Gong Teng is pungent and warm in nature, with a slight toxic property. It enters the liver, spleen, and stomach meridians. It has the functions of dispelling wind and dampness, and reducing swelling and relieving pain. It is used for rheumatic pain, hemiplegia, and traumatic swelling and pain. For example, Ding Gong Teng injection is used to treat rheumatic bone pain and neuralgia.
