Fulingmu, also known as Huangsongjie, Fushenxin, and Fulingmu. It is recorded in "Compendium of Materia Medica". It is the pine root in the middle of the fungus Fuling Poria cocos (Schw.) Wolf. When harvesting Fuling in most cases, the pine root is selected, and the Fuling block is knocked off (used for Fuling), and the fine pine root is picked and dried.
[Processing Method] Take the original medicinal material, remove impurities, soak in clear water for 2 to 4 hours, remove, water intermittently, cut into thin slices or steam until moist, cut into thin slices while hot, dry or bake, and sift to remove ash. Or take the original medicinal material and cut it into small pieces or crush it.
[Appearance of the slice] It is an irregular thin slice or fragment, about 1.5mm thick, and some blocks are attached with part of Fuling, resembling decayed wood blocks; the surface of the slice is brownish-yellow to yellow, with ring-shaped texture (annual rings), and the periphery is attached with white or gray-white Fuling. It is light in weight and loose in texture. It has a slight aroma and a mild taste.
[Processing function] Fulingmu has a sweet and mild taste and is neutral in nature. It enters the liver and heart meridians. It has the function of calming the liver and calming the mind. This product is mostly used in cases of palpitations, forgetfulness, aphasia after a stroke, and leg cramps. For example, Fushen San (from "Weisheng Baojian") is used to treat aphasia after a stroke with difficulty in speech and deviation of the mouth and eyes; Songjiesan (from "Jiaoqi Zhifa Zongyao") is used to treat leg cramps and pain. Processing makes the medicine clean, facilitates the dissolution of effective components, and is convenient for compounding and formulation.
