Matricaria also known as oil pine knot, yellow pine knot. Recorded in "Mingyi Bie Lu". It refers to the gall-like knots or branching knots of the pine trees Pinus tabulaeformis Carr. or Pinus massoniana Lamb. It is mostly obtained during logging or processing in wood factories, and is selected, repaired, and dried in the sun or in the shade.
[Processing Method] Take the original herb and chop it into pieces, wash it with water, soak it for 3-4 hours, remove it, make it moist, slice it thinly, and dry it in the sun or by baking. Alternatively, take the original herb, remove the oil-free wood and ashes, and plane it into thin slices or saw it into segments or chop it into small pieces.
[Appearance of the herbal tea] It is irregular thin slices or small pieces. It is brownish-yellow or yellowish-brown, oily, with a fragrance of pine knot oil, and a slightly bitter taste.
[Processing function] Matricaria has a bitter and warm taste. It enters the liver and kidney meridians. It has the functions of dispelling wind, drying dampness, relaxing tendons, promoting blood circulation, and relieving pain. Processing makes the medicine clean, facilitates the dissolution of effective components, and is convenient for dispensing and formulation. It is used for wind-cold-damp bi syndrome, arthritis pain, leg weakness and flaccidity, and traumatic injuries. For example, the Matricaria soup (from "Introduction to Medicine") is used to treat athlete's foot spreading to the abdomen, abdominal distension and urgency, restlessness and swelling pain. The Matricaria wine (from "Taiping Shenghui Fang") is used to treat joint wind weakness and leg pain. The Matricaria powder (from "Taiping Shenghui Fang") is used to treat injuries from falls, blood congestion attacking the heart, and chest stuffiness and discomfort.
