how to wear contacts for beginners

March 30, 2023
Wearing contacts is a technical task that some people can solve in a minute, but some people have to toss and turn for most of an hour; in fact, it is not the design of contacts is unreasonable, but the incorrect way to wear them; then how to wear them?

Clean hands

Before wearing contacts, wash your hands first and use soap to wash away hand bacteria to avoid infecting your eyes; after washing your hands, dry them to avoid too much moisture in the fingers of the wearer, and the lenses will easily stick to your fingers, making it difficult to wear them in your eyes. Try not to keep your fingernails so as not to scratch the lenses.

Separate the front and back sides

The first step in wearing contacts correctly is to learn to distinguish between the front and back of your glasses. Place your contacts on the tip of your right index finger, and make sure that the front side is bowl-shaped and the back side is disc-shaped. Make sure that the lenses are facing upwards before you start wearing them.

Pulling the upper and lower eyelids apart

With your eyes looking forward, pull your upper and lower eyelids apart with the middle fingers of both hands and open your eyes as wide as possible so that there is enough room for the lenses to enter your eyes.

Place the lens on the eye

With your eyes looking down, gently place the lenses on your eyeballs from the bottom up, release your fingers, close your eyes and rotate your eyeballs, blink naturally, and let the lenses fit your eyeballs naturally.

Removing contacts

To remove your contacts, wash your hands, look slightly upward, use your left index finger and right middle finger to pull your upper and lower eyelids apart, and use the belly of your right thumb and index finger to gently hold the lens underneath and remove it.

Precautions

1. The first time you wear contacts, you should not wear them for too long, within 3 hours; from the second time onwards, the wearing time should be gradually extended, but not more than 8 hours per day. Use them after you get up and take them off before you go to sleep. 2. When you first wear them, your eyes may not be used to them and you may experience a foreign body sensation, but the symptoms generally disappear within half an hour. If this is the case, you should check whether you are wearing the wrong front or back side, whether your contacts are broken, whether there is dust or lint, etc. Rinse them with a maintenance solution and wear them again. 3. Wear your contacts first, and then apply makeup; you can remove makeup from your face only after you remove your lenses at night. 4. You should not wear contacts if you have trachoma, inflammation or eye disease.
