November 23, 2023

The Origin of the Silkworm Bamboo Point

The term "silkworm bamboo" in ancient times referred to a string instrument, one of the eight tones. The points along the San Jiao meridian in the head area are all around the ears, so the names of the points are related to the ears. Of course, the sound of the silkworm bamboo has to be heard through the ears. However, "bamboo" here also has a separate meaning, referring to a certain eyebrow shape called "bamboo leaf eyebrow", which corresponds exactly to our acupoints and is related to the eyebrows. "Point" refers to a pore or opening, and the silkworm bamboo point is located in the depression of the eyebrow end, which is exactly the space between the eyebrows, hence the name.

Location of the acupoint: On the face, in the depression at the end of the eyebrows.
