Accurate Location of Jingming

Jingming acupoint is located on the face, slightly above the inner corner of the eye, in the depression next to the bridge of the nose and the midpoint of the inner corner of the eye.

Functions of Jingming

The name of this acupoint comes from the fact that it supplies blood from the bladder meridian to the eyes. The eyes receive blood supply, enabling clear and bright vision, hence the name Jingming (bright eyes).

Jingming is the meeting point of five meridians: Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang, Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang, Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming, Yin Qiao, and Yang Qiao. This acupoint is the starting point of the Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang, and it supplies the bladder meridian to the eyes. Due to its wide range of connections, Jingming can be used for multiple purposes and is commonly used to treat eye disorders.

Benefits of Massaging Jingming

Jingming acupoint is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat eye diseases. It is effective in treating redness, swelling, pain in the eyes, tearing in the wind, unclear vision, internal and external opacity, myopia, night blindness, color blindness, acute and chronic conjunctivitis, lacrimal sac inflammation, keratitis, photokeratitis, optic neuritis, etc. Massaging Jingming can improve the blood supply to the eyes, thereby relieving eye fatigue and dryness.

Massage Techniques for Jingming

1. Use the tip of the index finger to press on Jingming acupoint. Inhale while pressing and exhale while releasing. Repeat this process 36 times, then gently rub the acupoint 36 times, pausing for 2-3 seconds each time.

2. Gently close your eyes, make fists with both hands, and raise your thumbs. Use the tip of the thumb to press on the acupoint with a moderate amount of pressure, until you feel a slight soreness or swelling at the acupoint. Continue for 1 minute, relax for 10 seconds, and then repeat the pressing. Repeat this process 3-5 times.

Special Massage Technique for Jingming acupoint combination

Jingming can be combined with other acupoints such as Dadian, Guangming, Chengqi, and Zanzhu to protect the eyes.

Dadian is the starting point of the Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin, located on the big toe. Guangming acupoint is on the lower leg. Chengqi acupoint is below the eyeball in the face. Zanzhu acupoint is on the inner side of the eyebrow. Regularly massaging these acupoints can serve as an adjunct treatment for glaucoma, presbyopia, myopia, cataracts, and other eye diseases.

Precautions for Massaging Jingming

Jingming acupoint is very close to the eyeball. Before massaging, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly to avoid bacterial contamination of the eyes.
