Massage Techniques for Children with Goose Mouth Ulcers

Goose mouth ulcer refers to the appearance of white spots or flakes resembling a goose's mouth on the tongue or oral mucosa of children. It is also called snow mouth because of its white color like snowflakes. This condition can be caused by congenital fetal heat accumulation or the invasion of impurities in the mouth. When parents find that their child has this condition, they should seek medical treatment in a timely manner and use massage therapy. So, where should children with goose mouth ulcers be massaged?

Three Passes of Pushing

The masseur uses the thumb on the radial side to push the middle finger of the affected child from the fingertip to the root of the finger, on the palmar surface, in an upward, middle, and downward dispersing manner, 50-100 times at each pass.

Six Viscera Pushing

The affected child sits or lies down, and the masseur uses the thumb or index finger, middle finger on the affected child's forearm ulnar side to push from the elbow to the wrist transverse line, 50-100 times.

Clearing the Tianhe River

The masseur holds the hand of the affected child with one hand, and uses the fingertip or radial side of the index finger and middle finger of the other hand to push along the inner side of the affected child's forearm, from the wrist transverse line to the elbow transverse line, specifically from Daling to Hongchi, 50-100 times.

Dividing and Pushing the Wrist Transverse Line

The masseur uses both thumbs to push apart from the middle tendon of the affected child's palm transverse line to both sides, 50-100 times.

Clearing the Stomach Meridian

The masseur uses the thumb and index finger to fix the affected child's thumb and the interphalangeal joint of the palm, and uses the thumb pad or radial side of the other hand to push from the palm root to the thumb root, specifically pushing the outer edge of the thenar eminence, 50-100 times.

Rubbing and Pressing Neiguan

The masseur holds the affected child's hand with one hand, with the palm facing upwards, and uses the thumb of the other hand to rub and press the Neiguan acupoint (the center of the palm), 50-100 times.

Pounding and Rubbing Xiaotianxin

The masseur holds the affected child's hand with one hand, with the palm facing upwards, and uses the fingertip of the other hand to pound and rub the depression at the junction of the thenar and hypothenar, 50-100 times.

Pressing and Rubbing Zusanli

The masseur uses the thumb to press and rub the Zusanli acupoint (3 inches below the outer knee depression) of the affected child's foot, 50-100 times or for 3-5 minutes.
