Baby otitis media is one of the three major inflammations in pediatric otolaryngology, with acute and chronic types. Acute otitis media often occurs during a cold, when inflammation occurs in the nose and throat, and bacteria enter the middle ear through the Eustachian tube, causing inflammation. If acute otitis media is not promptly treated, it can develop into chronic otitis media. In the treatment of otitis media, massage can be used as the main auxiliary treatment method. Let's take a look at the massage diagram for pediatric otitis media.
Kidney nourishing meridian for 1-3 minutes
Positioning: The end joint of the little finger with a spiral pattern.
Massage technique: The masseur straightens the child's little finger and pushes it straight from the spiral pattern towards the fingertips to nourish the kidney meridian, pushing for 1-3 minutes.
Liver clearing meridian for 300 times
Positioning: The end joint of the index finger with a spiral pattern.
Massage technique: The masseur uses the thumb pad to push straight from the spiral pattern on the child's index finger towards the root of the finger, clearing the liver meridian for 300 times.
Pressing the Yingfeng point for 2 minutes
Positioning: Behind the earlobe, in the depression between the mastoid process and the angle of the jaw.
Massage method: The masseur uses both thumbs or index fingers to slowly and forcefully press the Yingfeng point behind the child's earlobe, pressing for 2 minutes.
Taking the Fengchi point for 5 times
Positioning: Back of the neck, in the depression between the two large tendons.
Massage technique: The masseur supports the child's forehead with one hand, and uses the thumb and index finger of the other hand to lift and take the Fengchi point on the neck.
Rubbing the Taixi point for 1-3 minutes
Positioning: Inner side of the foot, in the depression between the inner ankle and the Achilles tendon.
Massage technique: The masseur uses the thumb and index finger to knead the Taixi point on the child's foot behind the inner ankle.
Daily protection for pediatric otitis media
1. Babies with acute purulent otitis media should follow the doctor's instructions to use antibiotics, preferably continuously for one week. For those with high fever, antipyretic drugs can be used as needed. Apply medication to the baby's ears every day according to the doctor's instructions, but first wipe away the pus in the ear canal before instilling the medication. Avoid water entering the ear canal before the tympanic membrane has healed.
2. After the baby catches a cold, parents should use a clean handkerchief or tissue to gently wipe away nasal secretions. For older babies, guide them to blow their nose correctly, that is, alternately press the nostrils towards the nasal septum and blow each nostril separately. Avoid pinching both nostrils tightly with hands to blow the nose, as this may increase pressure in the nose and throat, causing nasal secretions and bacteria to reflux into the middle ear and induce otitis media.
3. Whether it is acute otitis media or chronic otitis media, parents should pay attention to it and seek treatment for their children in a timely manner without delay. The diet should be light and easily digestible liquid or semi-liquid food, to avoid chewing causing pain for the child.
4. During the treatment of otitis media, try not to clean the child's ears again to avoid accidentally worsening damage to the eardrum.
