Accurate location of Tian Tu point in children
Tian Tu is located in the neck, on the midline, right in the middle of the suprasternal fossa. The child should sit upright and tilt their head back to locate the point.
Massage techniques for Tian Tu point in children
There are three different techniques for massaging Tian Tu point: rubbing, tapping, and squeezing.
With one hand supporting the child's head from the side, use the fingertip of the other hand to press or rub the point 10-30 times. This is called pressing or rubbing Tian Tu.
Bend the index or middle finger slightly and tap the point downwards with force 3-5 times. This is called tapping Tian Tu.
Use both thumbs and index fingers to squeeze Tian Tu until there is a reddish-purple discoloration under the skin. This is called squeezing Tian Tu.

Massage of Tian Tu point in children can help relieve nausea, regulate qi, and alleviate wheezing. It is commonly used for hiccups, coughing, vomiting, pharyngitis, loss of appetite, throat pain, chest tightness, and other symptoms.
The role of massaging Tian Tu point in pediatric massage
By massaging Tian Tu point, qi can be regulated, phlegm can be eliminated, and coughing can be stopped. It is often used for phlegm-induced wheezing and vomiting caused by poor qi circulation or upward qi flow in the stomach.
If the middle finger is slightly bent downwards and pressed inward with a quick motion, it can induce vomiting. It is often used in combination with rubbing Shan Zhong, rubbing Zhong Wan, and manipulating Nei Ba Gua.
If nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and other symptoms are caused by heatstroke, squeezing Tian Tu point, combined with other acupuncture points, can also be effective.
