It is located in the shoulder muscles and belongs to the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian. It is the intersection point of the Hand Shaoyang and Yangwei meridians.

There are different techniques for the shoulder well, including holding, pressing, rubbing, and pinching.

The child sits upright, and the thumbs, index fingers, and middle fingers of both hands apply alternating pressure, exerting a slight force to tighten and relax the muscles in that area 3-5 times. This is called holding the shoulder well.

Using the thumbs or the tips of the thumbs on red paper, apply slight pressure to that area 10-30 times. This is called pressing the shoulder well.

Using the fingertips of the thumbs or middle fingers, apply force to the area and rub it 10-30 times. This is called rubbing the shoulder well.

Using the nail of the thumbs, apply force to pinch the area 3-5 times. This is called pinching the shoulder well.

Effects of massaging the shoulder well in pediatric massage

It promotes the circulation of Qi and blood, expels exterior pathogens through sweating, regulates the flow of Qi through orifices, and relaxes and activates tendons and collaterals. It is commonly used to treat symptoms such as colds, convulsions, poor lifting of the upper limbs, shoulder and back pain, and stiff neck. It can also be used as a finishing technique for treatment.

1. It has a good therapeutic effect on external wind-cold, relieving dizziness and coldness in the head, and enhancing yang qi.

Using the thumbs, index fingers, and middle fingers, pinch and knead the shoulder well 100-200 times, gradually increasing and then decreasing the pressure. Long-term massage can relieve symptoms such as colds, stiff neck, and shoulder and back pain.
