The tongue coating is white and greasy. The treatment principle is to warm the middle, disperse cold, and relieve diarrhea.

Primary Points: Tian Shu, Zu San Li, Yin Ling Quan

Additional Points: Da Chang Yu, Shen Jue, Zhong Wan

Acupuncture Method:

1. Mild moxibustion: Moxa the acupoints with an ai stick 2-3 cm away from the skin to produce a strong stimulation. Moxibustion each point for 5 minutes. If small blisters appear on the skin, let them absorb naturally. The stimulus should be tolerable.

2. Ginger-separated moxibustion: Use ginger slices about 2-3 mm thick, make several holes in the middle, and place an ai stick made of moxa wool the size of a peanut on top. Moxibustion each point for 5-7 times, once a day or every other day, with 7-10 days as one course of treatment.

3. Moxibustion without scarring: Apply garlic juice to the moxibustion points and place a medium-sized ai stick on top. When the skin feels burning pain, change to a new ai stick. [2. Spleen Deficiency Diarrhea]

Symptoms:

The patient may have loose or watery stools, prolonged and recurrent, poor digestion of food, increased frequency of bowel movements after eating greasy food, accompanied by poor appetite, discomfort in the epigastric region after eating, pale complexion, fatigue, and a pale tongue coating. The treatment should focus on strengthening the spleen, replenishing qi, and stopping diarrhea.

Acupuncture Points:

Primary Points: Guan Yuan Yu, Tian Shu, Zhong Wan, Zu San Li

Additional Points: Pi Yu, Da Chang Yu

Acupuncture Method:

1. Moxibustion with ai stick: Ignite the ai stick and suspend it above the acupoints, with the ai fire 3 cm away from the skin. Moxibustion each point for 10-15 minutes, once or twice a day, with 5-7 days as one course of treatment.

2. Ginger-separated moxibustion: Use ginger slices about 2-3 mm thick, make several holes in the middle, and place an ai stick made of moxa wool the size of a peanut on top. Moxibustion each point for 3-7 times, once a day or every other day, with 5-7 days as one course of treatment, with a 3-day interval between courses.

3. Pepper cake-separated moxibustion: Take a pepper cake with medicine inside, about 0.3 cm thick, and place it on the acupoints. Choose 2-4 acupoints each time and apply moxibustion with an ai stick. Moxibustion each point for 3-5 times, with a warm and comfortable feeling as the criterion, with 5-7 times as one course of treatment.

[3. Kidney Deficiency Diarrhea]

Symptoms:

This condition is more common in elderly people. The patient may have diarrhea with loose or undigested stools, abdominal pain before dawn, immediate bowel movements when experiencing intestinal rumbling, relief after bowel movements, cold limbs, lumbosacral soreness, and a pale tongue coating. The treatment should focus on warming and tonifying the spleen and kidneys, consolidating and astringing, and stopping diarrhea.

[Precautions]

1. Acupuncture treatment is more effective for acute and chronic diarrhea, but for severe dehydration or diarrhea caused by malignant diseases, comprehensive treatment should be adopted.

Side effects of Ai Jiu Du Zi Yan
