Ji, also known as tu ji, is a tool used for carrying things; Men refers to the doors and gates for entry and exit. The name of Ji Men acupoint implies that the wind qi from the blood sea acupoint, which is filled with water and dampness, disperses and becomes stronger when it reaches this acupoint. The earth substances in the acupoint are carried away as if they were carried by a tu ji, hence the name. So where exactly is the accurate location of Ji Men?

Accurate Location of Ji Men Acupoint

Precise location: On the inner side of the thigh, 6 inches above the Blood Sea and below the Chong Men.

Easy location: Sit with legs stretched out, on the inner side of the thigh, there is a fish-shaped muscle bulge, and the concave part at its fish tail is the acupoint.

Anatomy of Ji Men Acupoint

On the inner edge of the seamstress muscle, there is a deep layer of the vastus medialis muscle; there is a deep vein called the great saphenous vein, and there are femoral arteries and veins on the outer side of the deep layer; there are anterior cutaneous branches of the femoral nerve and deep branches of the saphenous nerve.

Functions and Effects of Ji Men Acupoint

Functions: Tonifying the spleen and eliminating dampness, promoting diuresis.

Effects: Ji Men acupoint belongs to the spleen meridian. The meridian of the spleen passes directly through this acupoint into the pelvic cavity, so this acupoint is good for treating urinary difficulties caused by damp-heat in the middle burner transferring to the bladder, as well as symptoms such as stranguria caused by damp-heat in the lower burner, and eczema in the scrotum. This acupoint can also be used for enuresis resulting from the failure of water channels to be restrained. Treatment of medial thigh pain follows the meridian.

Commonly Used Combinations with Ji Men Acupoint

1. Combined with Pishu, Pangguangshu, Zhongji, Ququ, Zusanli, to tonify the spleen, replenish qi, promote diuresis, and treat enuresis, urinary difficulties, urinary retention, and dribbling urination.

2. Combined with Pangguangshu, Zhongji, Yinlingquan, Sanyinjiao, Xingjian, to clear and promote the bladder, and treat urinary difficulties caused by bladder damp-heat, as well as hot lin syndrome.

3. Combined with Xiaoshu, Pangguangshu, Yinlingquan, Sanyinjiao, to clear heat and eliminate dampness, and treat eczema in the scrotum caused by damp-heat descending.

Massage Method for Ji Men Acupoint for Health Preservation
