Danshen: Traditional Medicinal Herb with Various Soup Recipes

Danshen is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb that has the effects of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, regulating menstruation, calming the mind, and cooling blood and resolving abscesses. It can be used to treat symptoms such as chest pain, abdominal pain, irregular menstruation, and restlessness and insomnia. Many people drink Danshen soup. So what kind of soup can be made with Danshen?

Danshen Lean Meat Soup

Ingredients: 100g lean pork, 30g Wuweizi, 15g Danshen, salt to taste.

Directions:

1. Wash the lean pork and cut it into pieces.

2. Wash the Wuweizi and Danshen.

3. Put the Wuweizi, Danshen, and lean pork into a clay pot and add an appropriate amount of water.

4. Boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for 1 hour.

5. Add salt to taste and serve.

Danshen Sanqi Black Chicken Soup

Ingredients: 15g Danshen, 12g Sanqi, 150g black chicken, 4 red dates.

3. Put the Danshen, Sanqi, red dates, and black chicken into a stewing pot, and add an appropriate amount of water.

Danshen Red Dates Pork Rib Soup

2. Blanch the pork ribs in boiling water for about 5 minutes to remove blood and fishy smell.

3. Put the pork ribs, Danshen, red dates, and wolfberry in a soup pot, and pour in rice wine.

5. Boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for about 2 hours.

2. Rinse the red dates and Danshen, wash the black chicken leg and chop it into pieces.

4. Put all the ingredients into a stewing pot, and add 6 bowls of water.

5. Boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for about 40 minutes, until the chicken is tender.

2. Wash the Sangzhi, Danshen, and Chuanxiong with water.

3. Put all the ingredients into a clay pot, and add an appropriate amount of water.

Lingzhi Danshen Abalone Soup

1. Soak the Lingzhi until soft, then slice it.

2. Cook the Danshen with 600ml of water until reduced to 200ml, then strain.

3. Wash the red dates and remove the pits.

4. Remove the shell of the abalone, wash it, and make a few cuts on the surface.

5. Put the medicinal juice, Lingzhi, red dates, abalone, ginger, green onion, and cooking wine into a stewing pot, and add an appropriate amount of water.

6. Stew over low heat for 2 hours, then season with pepper and salt.

Danshen Pork Liver Soup

Ingredients: 300g pork liver, 30g Danshen, 50g oilseed rape, salt, monosodium glutamate, clear soup, pepper, starch, ginger slices, green onion, coriander, sesame oil, cooking wine, soy sauce, all to taste.

Directions:

1. Wash the pork liver, cut it into slices, marinate with cooking wine, soy sauce, and starch.

2. Wash the oilseed rape and blanch it in boiling water, then drain.

3. Wash the Danshen, chop the coriander.

4. Pour an appropriate amount of clear soup into a pot, add the Danshen, and boil over high heat for about 10 minutes.

5. Add the pork liver, ginger slices, and green onion, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes.

6. Add the oilseed rape and cook it for a while.

7. Season with salt, monosodium glutamate, pepper, drizzle with sesame oil, and sprinkle with coriander.
