Using Dangshen to Lower Blood Pressure: Tea and Drink Recipes

Dangshen is a common medicinal herb that is known for its ability to replenish qi. It contains active ingredients such as Dangshen saponins and Dangshen polysaccharides. It has a neutral nature and a sweet taste, and it can replenish the middle and benefit qi, nourish blood and generate fluids. It also has a certain blood pressure-lowering effect. So how should Dangshen be consumed to lower blood pressure?

Dangshen and Maidong Tea

Ingredients:

25g Dangshen, 10g Maidong, 6g Beiwuzi, 50g Chinese dates, appropriate amount of rock sugar.

Instructions:

1. Wash the Chinese dates and put them in a pot together with Dangshen, Maidong, and Beiwuzi.

2. Add 1000ml of water and simmer to extract 800ml of juice.

3. Add rock sugar to taste. Take one dose per day and consume it multiple times.

Dangshen and Huangqi Tea

Ingredients: 8g roasted Dangshen, 8g honey-fried Huangqi, 8g fried Baizhu, 10g Longan flesh.

Instructions: Crush the Huangqi, Dangshen, and Baizhu together, put them in a cheesecloth bag, tie the bag tightly, slice the Longan flesh thinly, put it in a thermos together with the cheesecloth bag, pour in a suitable amount of boiling water, cover and let it steep for 20 to 30 minutes before drinking. Take one dose per day, divided into morning and evening.

Dangshen, Shan Yao, and Gouqi Berry Congee

Ingredients:

1 Chinese yam, 10g Dangshen, 30 goji berries, 50g buckwheat, 50g rice.

Instructions:

1. Wash and peel the Chinese yam, and cut it into pieces.

2. Wash the buckwheat, rice, and goji berries.

3. Add an appropriate amount of water and cook over low heat until it becomes a thin congee. It is ready to eat.

Dangshen, Hawthorn, and Jueming Soup

Ingredients:

10g chrysanthemum flowers, 10g Dangshen, 15g dried hawthorn slices, 15g Juemingzi seeds, a little sugar.

Instructions:

Grind the Juemingzi seeds and boil them together with the chrysanthemum flowers and dried hawthorn slices to extract the juice.

Dangshen, He Shou Wu, and Honey Drink

Ingredients:

30g Dangshen, 30g roasted He Shou Wu, 30ml honey.

Instructions:

1. Slice the Dangshen and He Shou Wu and put them in a pot.

2. Add an appropriate amount of water and simmer twice, each time simmering for 40 minutes.

3. Combine the two batches of medicinal liquid, add honey for flavoring, and take it twice a day, in the morning and afternoon.
