Motherwort is slightly cold in nature, bitter and pungent in taste; it belongs to the liver, pericardium and bladder meridians. Motherwort is not new to us, especially for women who often have irregular menstruation, most of them choose it to regulate their menstruation.

Promoting Blood circulation and regulating menstruation

Yi Mu Cao is cold, clear and beneficial, good at activating blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis, regulating menstruation and regenerating menstruation, and is commonly used in gynecology to improve menorrhagia, menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, postpartum abdominal pain and persistent dew.

Diuretic and anti-swelling

It can enter the kidney, which can not only promote diuresis and reduce swelling, but also invigorate blood circulation and eliminate blood stasis. It is especially beneficial to patients with edema caused by water stasis and mutual stasis, and can be used to treat acute or chronic nephritis with edema, short urine and redness.

Clearing heat and removing toxins

Yi Mu Cao is pungent, dispersing, bitter and draining, cold in nature and clearing heat. It can invigorate blood and disperse blood stasis to relieve pain, and clear heat and detoxify toxins to reduce swelling. It is good at treating sores, canker sores, swelling, skin redness and swelling caused by heat congestion and blood stasis; it is also good at relieving swelling and pain. It is especially suitable for stasis of blood, swelling and pain caused by bruises and injuries. In addition, motherwort is cold in nature and can cool the blood and relieve itching, which can be used to treat itching, pain, red heat and other skin discomforts caused by skin rashes.

Anti-aging

Motherwort contains trace elements such as selenium and manganese, which are anti-oxidant, anti-aging, anti-fatigue and inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells, therefore, it is effective for skin care.

Improves coronary circulation

Motherwort can promote the rapid recovery of local blood flow and microcirculation disorders caused by isoprenaline. Isoproterenol 50mg/kg was injected subcutaneously to produce myocardial ischemia and necrosis in rats; ECG with T-wave depression and T-wave high were selected after 24 hours and biphasic T-wave ECG after 4 days, respectively, and treated with motherwort preparation. days), the coronary circulation was improved.

Anti-platelet aggregation and coagulation

The anti-platelet aggregation effect of motherwort injection (I) in vivo was observed in Wistar rats by different methods such as scalding, ice water stress and intravenous injection of ADP, which caused an increase in platelet aggregation activity in vivo. The platelet aggregation ratio of scalded rats was maintained within the normal range. In the ice-water stress test, intraperitoneal injection of 12 ml/kg containing 4 g of biotropic drug for 4 days significantly reduced the rate of platelet aggregates in small blood vessels of myocardium and improved the submicrostructural changes of myocardial cells in rats. The rate of platelet aggregates in the alveolar wall capillaries was significantly improved compared with the control group.

Effects on the uterus

Motherwort decoction, alcoholic infusion and motherwort alkaloids contained in it showed excitatory effects on the uterus of rabbits, cats, dogs, guinea pigs and other animals. When motherwort decoction was administered to rabbits' isolated uterus, it showed excitatory effects on the uterus, regardless of whether it was infertile, early pregnancy, late pregnancy or postpartum. In the test of uterine impotence in rabbits, the decoction of motherwort, when the uterus was pressurized or unpressurized, caused a significant excitatory effect on the uterus after 15-20 minutes of administration. The total base of motherwort had excitatory effect on guinea pig isolated uterus, and its effect was similar to that of ergometrine. The aqueous and ethanolic infusions of motherwort had significant excitatory effects on both isolated and in situ uteri.

Effects on respiratory center

The respiratory rate and amplitude increased significantly in anesthetized cats after intravenous injection of motherwort base, but at high doses, the respiration changed from excitation to inhibition and became weak and irregular. The respiratory excitatory effect was still not observed after cutting both sides of the said nerve.

Effects on intestinal smooth muscle

A small amount of Yimoulin can make the rabbit isolated intestinal tube tension relaxation and amplification, and a large amount can reduce the amplitude and increase the frequency.

Effects on kidney

Motherwort has been shown to be useful in the treatment of renal failure in dogs. The therapeutic effects of motherwort injection on ischemic ARF in dogs were investigated using a healthy mongrel dog model of acute renal failure (ARF) with control and treatment groups, and creatinine (Cr), urea nitrogen (BUN), fractional filtration sodium excretion (FENa), renal blood flow (RBF) and animal survival as indices. The animals in both groups were kept until the 7th day and executed. The pathological examination showed that the differences between the two groups in the above mentioned indexes were very obvious, except for Cr, which proved the significant effect of motherwort injection in treating ischemic primary ARF in dogs.

Contraindications of motherwort

1. Motherwort is contraindicated in pregnant women, and is contraindicated in those without stagnation and with little Yin deficiency and blood. 2. Motherwort should not be used with iron. Efficacy of the Sutra 3、If blood heat, blood stagnation and difficult fetal delivery, motherwort should be used; if blood is deficient and cold, and if it is slippery and not solid, motherwort is not suitable.
