Cao Wu is the dried root of the plant North Aconite, also known as "broken intestine grass", which contains alkaloids that are toxic to the kidneys. Adverse reactions of Herba Aconite

Symptoms include numbness of the mouth, tongue, limbs and body, salivation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth, slowed pulse, difficulty in breathing, twitching of hands and feet, confusion, incontinence, drop in blood pressure and body temperature, irregular heart rate, ventricular pre-phase contractions and sinus arrest. In severe cases, it can lead to circulatory and respiratory failure and severe heart rate arrhythmia and death.

Pharmacological effects of Herba Aconite

1. Aconite has obvious anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and has cardiotonic effects, but excessive doses can cause arrhythmias and eventually cardiac depression. 2, aconitine can cause arrhythmia and hypertension, but also can enhance the toxic effect of mullein G on the myocardium, there is a significant local anesthetic effect. 3, aconite polysaccharide has the effect of significantly lowering normal blood sugar. 4、Aconite injection has anti-cancer effect and has inhibitory effect on stomach cancer cells.

Contraindications to the use of aconite

1、Cao Wu is very toxic, raw products need to be taken internally with caution, pregnant women are prohibited to use. The toxicity of Cao Wu can be slightly reduced after processing and concoction, but pregnant women still need to use with caution. 2、Cao Wu should not be used at the same time with Radix et Rhizoma, Chuan Bai Mu, Zhe Bei Mu, Gua Pao, Tian Tian Tian Fan, Bletilla and Bupleurum.
