Dietary Guidelines and Ultrasound Examination in Pregnancy

December 14, 2023

During normal pregnancy, there are certain dietary guidelines to follow. First, there are specific dietary do's and don'ts for common pregnancy-related conditions such as morning sickness, restless fetal movements, and preterm labor. For less common conditions like epilepsy, coughing, irritability, obstruction, as well as urinary bleeding, bedwetting, diarrhea, malaria, and hiccups, the general dietary guidelines for pregnancy can be followed.

The dietary guidelines for pregnancy are as follows: consume high protein, multivitamin, and high fiber foods while avoiding high-fat and salty foods. Opt for easily digestible and juicy foods while avoiding raw, cold, and cold-natured foods. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables while avoiding spicy, fishy, greasy, or fried foods that generate heat and harm yin. Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption, especially strong spirits.

Important points to note about diet in the later stages of pregnancy:

1. Increase the intake of plant protein, such as tofu and soy milk;

2. Consume more seafood like seaweed and nori, as well as animal organs and nuts;

3. Be mindful of salt and water intake to prevent edema and pregnancy toxemia;

4. Choose nutrient-dense foods with smaller volume, such as animal products, and reduce the consumption of low-nutrient, high-volume foods like potatoes and sweet potatoes;

5. Limit the consumption of high-energy foods like white sugar and honey to prevent reduced appetite and hindered intake of other nutrients;

6. For pregnant women with edema, limit daily salt intake to less than 5 grams.

Pregnancy and ultrasound examination:

Pregnancy check-ups: Antenatal care examinations

Through methods such as weighing, measuring blood pressure, determining fundal height, measuring abdominal circumference, and listening to fetal heart sounds, the health status of pregnant women and the growth and development of the fetus can be monitored.

Objective of the examination: Monitor the health status of pregnant women and the growth and development of the fetus.

Examination content: Weight measurement, blood pressure measurement, fundal height measurement, abdominal circumference measurement, and listening to fetal heart sounds.

Price: Approximately 5 yuan (prices may vary depending on location)

Examination time: Once a month from the 3rd to 7th month of pregnancy; every 2 weeks from the 8th month of pregnancy; once a week from the 9th month of pregnancy. In case of pregnancy-related conditions, frequent check-ups may be required.

Antenatal care examinations can be used to determine fetal age, uterine height, fetal heart sounds, and observe fetal movements.
