January 7, 2024

In daily life, we often encounter situations like headaches. Besides being caused by colds, what are the other reasons? Let's take a look together!

  Causes of Headaches

  1. Headaches caused by colds

This is a common situation. The main reason is headaches caused by bacterial and viral infections in the lungs, urinary system, and mouth. Generally, there will be a feeling of heaviness along with the headache.

There may also be a fever. In this case, it is best to undergo an examination and treat the pathogen. After the pathogen is cured, the headache symptoms will greatly improve.

  2. Headaches caused by high blood pressure

Headaches caused by high blood pressure feel different from those caused by colds and fever. The latter will have a feeling of heaviness, while headaches caused by high blood pressure will feel throbbing.

Moreover, it will persist when the blood pressure is high, and the location of the headache is not fixed.

  3. Headaches caused by cerebral hemorrhage and other reasons

Headaches caused by cerebral hemorrhage are generally referred to as central headaches. The symptoms are throbbing and dull pain.

If numbness, weakness in the limbs, or even mental confusion are noticed, attention should be paid, and timely medical examination should be conducted to determine whether it is a cerebral hemorrhage through brain CT scanning.

  4. Neurological headaches. This situation is also quite common. Neurological headaches usually occur in people who overuse their brains, have long-term fatigue, or suffer from insomnia.

The symptoms generally include a tight feeling on the scalp, as well as squeezing and throbbing pain.

  Methods to Relieve Headaches

  1. Apply cold compress

Apply an ice pack to the forehead, temples, or the back of the neck. The cooling effect can relax the muscles and relieve headaches.

  2. Take a relaxing bath
Mental stress and tension often cause headaches.

As long as you relax, the symptoms of headaches will alleviate. Adding a few drops of essential oil to the bathwater will enhance the effect.

  3. Do a head massage yourself
Gently apply pressure to the area where the headache occurs using your thumb and index finger.

Whether it's the temples, forehead, back of the head, or the base of the neck.

Massage steadily in a circular motion, and apply appropriate pressure. Massage for 10 to 15 seconds, or even longer if necessary. Reduce the time spent using the computer.
