There are many factors that can cause childhood asthma, in addition to genetic factors. Let's explain them below.
Causes of Asthma
1. Genetic factors
2. Trigger factors
Asthma is often the result of the combined effects of many complex factors.
(1) Inhalants: Inhalants can be specific or non-specific.
(2) Infections: Asthma is related to recurrent respiratory infections.
(3) Food: Asthma attacks can be caused by dietary factors, especially in infants and young children who are more prone to food allergies. Common allergenic foods include fish, shellfish, eggs, and milk.
(4) Climate changes: Asthma can be triggered by changes in temperature, humidity, air pressure, and ion levels. It is more common during cold seasons or when there is a transition in weather during autumn and winter.
(5) Psychological factors: Emotional stress, anxiety, and anger can all trigger asthma attacks.
(6) Exercise: About 70% to 80% of asthma patients experience asthma attacks after intense physical activity, known as exercise-induced asthma or exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
(7) Medications: Some medications, such as beta-blockers like Propranolol, can cause asthma attacks by blocking beta2-adrenergic receptors.
