When breastfeeding, pay attention to these small details. Ignoring these details can affect your baby's health...
1. Wearing work clothes while breastfeeding. Mothers who work in healthcare or laboratories may bring trouble to their babies by wearing work clothes while breastfeeding. Work clothes often have many invisible viruses, bacteria, and other harmful substances. So no matter how busy you are, mothers should take off their work clothes (it's better to take off the coat as well), wash their hands, and then breastfeed.
2. Breastfeeding when angry. Toxins can be produced in the body when a person is angry, which can turn water purple and cause sedimentation. Therefore, mothers should not breastfeed when angry or immediately after being angry to avoid the baby inhaling toxic breast milk and getting poisoned. Mild cases can cause sores, while severe cases can cause illness.
3. Breastfeeding after exercise. Lactic acid is produced in the body during exercise, which can make breast milk taste sour and cause the baby to dislike it. According to tests, this condition can occur with moderate or higher intensity exercise. Therefore, mothers who have the responsibility of breastfeeding should only engage in gentle exercise. After exercise, take a rest before breastfeeding.
4. Lying down while breastfeeding. When the baby's stomach is in a horizontal position, lying down while breastfeeding can easily cause the baby to spit up milk. The correct way is for the mother to sit in a sitting or semi-sitting position, with one foot on a small stool, hold the baby properly, and use the thumb and forefinger to gently hold the nipple for feeding. This prevents the nipple from blocking the baby's nostrils or causing the baby to cough or spit up milk due to the milk flowing too fast.
5. Making the baby laugh while breastfeeding. If the baby laughs due to being amused while drinking milk, it can open the larynx and the inhaled milk may enter the trachea. Mild cases can cause milk aspiration, while severe cases can induce aspiration pneumonia.
