1. Skin diseases such as skin ulcers: Scraping the skin surface during gua sha can easily cause the ulcers to rupture and become infected, worsening the condition.
2. Hemophilia or leukemia: Local congestion caused by gua sha may be risky for those with low platelet counts.
3. External injuries in the area that needs to be scraped: For example, abrasions on the arms, broken skin on the back, or fractures in the legs.
4. Pregnant women: Especially the abdominal and lumbosacral regions should not be scraped, as it may lead to miscarriage.
5. Patients with heart failure, renal failure, hepatic ascites, or severe systemic edema: Gua sha can cause greater harm to these individuals.
6. Patients with lower limb varicose veins: It is best for this group of people to avoid gua sha. If necessary, it should be done with caution, with scraping direction from bottom to top, and the technique should be as gentle as possible.
