1. First of all, it is important to note that gua sha should not be performed on a large area. If you have never done gua sha before or if your body is weak, it should only be used for targeted health care. If you have multiple conditions, only one condition should be treated at a time.
2. Health care treatment should not exceed the regular time, to avoid unnecessary injury.
3. When dealing with the issue of "sha" (redness or bruising), it is possible for "sha" symptoms or swelling to appear after the normal procedure, or for positive blockages to be relieved, or it may not appear at all. It is important not to forcefully pursue the appearance of "sha".
4. Heavy pressure should not be used on joint areas, the spine, or the head and face. The duration of gua sha in these areas should be relatively short.
5. Communication between the practitioner and the patient is important during gua sha to ensure the patient's comfort and tolerance of pain.
6. Gua sha should not be performed on an empty stomach or within 1-2 hours after a meal.
7. Gua sha should not be performed on major arteries or lymphatic areas without careful consideration.
8. Gua sha should be performed in the correct order, direction, and body position.
9. Avoid performing gua sha in air-conditioned rooms, in front of fans, or in cold spaces. Avoid taking a shower immediately after gua sha. Drink warm water and replenish fluids with sugar-salt water after gua sha.
10. For individuals with weak bodies, advanced age, or low immunity, a gentle technique should be used.
11. Pregnant women should avoid gua sha on the abdomen and lower back, and women should avoid gua sha on the nipples.
12. Use caution when performing gua sha on individuals with leukemia, decreased platelets, or severe anemia.
13. Gua sha should be avoided for individuals with heart failure, renal failure, liver cirrhosis with ascites, or severe generalized edema.
14. When dealing with varicose veins in the lower limbs, gua sha should be performed from bottom to top with a gentle technique.
15. Gua sha should not be performed on areas with moles, sores, or open wounds.
