November 28, 2023

Guasha can have multiple health benefits, such as promoting blood circulation. Let's take a look at several commonly used Guasha methods.

Guasha on the Head: Refreshing the Mind

When the meridians in the head are unblocked, it can make a person energetic and maintain normal brain blood vessels and nerve functions.

When doing Guasha on the head, you can take the Baihui acupoint in the center of the top of the head as the center and scrape towards the surrounding areas. Stop scraping when there is a warm sensation on the scalp. If you feel pain in a certain area, you can scrape that area repeatedly until the pain disappears or reduces.

Guasha on the Neck and Shoulders: Promoting Blood Circulation and Relaxing Tendons

Neck and shoulder pain is often caused by blood stasis in the neck and shoulders. Guasha can relax tendons, promote meridian circulation, and eliminate discomfort in the neck and shoulders.

When doing Guasha on the neck and shoulders, start from the Fengfu acupoint in the center of the back of the head, then scrape down the central point of the neck, and then scrape the points on both sides. Scrape each side 15-20 times.

Guasha on the Ribs: Soothing the Liver and Relieving Depression

The liver is responsible for regulating qi and releasing stagnation. If the liver's function of regulating qi is normal, the qi will flow smoothly, blood and qi will be harmonious, and a person's mood will be pleasant and cheerful. On the other hand, if the liver's function is not normal, the qi will be stagnant, and negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, and irritability may occur.
