The Importance of Properly Cleaning Cups for Good Health

October 26, 2023

Drinking water from a cup every day is important for our health, but if the cup is not cleaned properly, it can easily lead to intestinal diseases. Cleaning the cup is just as important as drinking water. Here are a few tips for cleaning cups.

Cleaning Cups with Eggshells

Cups with small openings and deep bottoms are usually difficult to clean. In this case, you can break up eggshells and put them in the cup. Add water and shake vigorously. This will create foamy protein on the eggshells, which will thoroughly remove the dirt inside.

Cleaning Cups with Toothpaste

Since dishwashing liquid contains many chemical ingredients, it is not recommended to use it to clean cups. If the cup has a lot of stains, it is recommended to use toothpaste. Squeeze toothpaste onto a brush and scrub the inside of the cup. Toothpaste contains both a cleaning agent and fine abrasive particles, which can easily remove residues without damaging the cup.

Cleaning Cups with Sponges

Roll two pieces of sponge separately at the front end of a clamp and fix them with a rubber band. Place the sponges inside the cup and use the clamp to hold the cup wall from the inside and outside, allowing you to clean both the inside and outside of the cup at the same time.

Cleaning Cups with Rice

Using rice can also clean cups. Prepare a spoonful of unwashed dry rice and put it in the cup. Add one-third of water to the cup, cover the lid, and shake vigorously. This will allow the rice to come into full contact with the cup wall and friction, effectively cleaning the cup. After shaking for a while, pour out the rice and water, and you will find that the cup looks brand new.

Cleaning Cups with Baking Soda

Dip an unused toothbrush into baking soda and carefully scrub the inside of the cup. This will effectively remove stains from the cup. Baking soda is weakly alkaline and has cleaning ability similar to soap, making it suitable for cleaning cups.

Notes for Cleaning Cups

1. Experts recommend cleaning the cup immediately after each use. If it feels too troublesome, it should be cleaned at least once a day. It is best to clean it before going to bed at night and let it air dry.

2. Data shows that 68% of people focus on cleaning the area where the cup touches the mouth, 24.1% focus on cleaning the inner wall of the cup, 5.6% mainly clean the bottom of the cup, and 2.3% focus on cleaning the outer wall of the cup. When cleaning the cup, not only the rim but also the bottom and the wall of the cup should be cleaned. The bottom of the cup can accumulate a lot of sediment and bacteria, so it should be cleaned thoroughly.

3. Women who often wear lipstick should make sure to clean any lipstick residue from the cup. Lipstick contains chemical ingredients and easily absorbs harmful substances and pathogens from the air. Drinking water can bring these substances into the body, so it is best to use a brush to clean the cup thoroughly.
