Managing Oily Hair Loss: Tips and Strategies

October 12, 2023

Skin tends to be oily, and hair is no exception. Many people with oily hair have experienced the problem of greasy hair. Even if they wash their hair two or three times a day, they still can't get rid of the greasy hair. With the oiliness of the hair, many people feel itchy scalp, so they scratch their scalp with their hands, causing dandruff to appear. The damaged scalp leads to severe damage to the hair, and even hair loss. What should be done for oily hair loss?

Causes of Oily Hair Loss

Oily hair loss is due to the hypertrophy and hyperplasia of sebaceous glands, which secrete a large amount of sebum. Sebaceous glands on the scalp are adjacent to the hair follicle papilla, and the nutrition of the hair depends on the absorption of the hair papilla. The excessive hypertrophy of sebaceous glands causes the surrounding straight-line cells of the entire hair follicle to be compressed, generating centripetal force, directly affecting the blood circulation in the hair papilla area, and causing abnormal infiltration of lymphatic tissue, resulting in lack of or loss of normal nutrition supply to the hair, ultimately leading to hair becoming dry, yellow, thin, split ends, and even hair loss.

Frequent hair washing is not suitable for oily hair loss

People with oily hair texture usually wash their hair frequently to combat the problem of hair oiliness. This approach seems to remove the oil from the hair, but it actually increases the oiliness of the hair. Because the hair roots will secrete a certain amount of sebum in a certain period of time, frequent hair washing will make the hair roots secrete sebum again, leading to hair oiliness.

Avoid using overly strong oil-removing shampoo for oily hair loss

People with oily hair loss should not use overly strong oil-removing shampoos. It is best to choose neutral or weakly acidic shampoos that do not irritate the scalp and hair. Oily hair can be washed with sulfur soap. When using shampoo, do not pour the shampoo directly onto the hair, and the water for washing hair should not be too hot.

Regulate endocrine to improve oily hair loss

The body's endocrine system regulates metabolism and physiological functions through various hormones and the nervous system. The endocrine system participates in regulating many physiological activities and life phenomena such as metabolic processes, growth and development, and reproductive aging. It coordinates various biochemical enzymes to maintain the relative stability of the body's internal environment in order to adapt to complex and changing internal and external changes. When the body's endocrine system is disrupted, various symptoms will appear, such as excessive sebum secretion, which leads to oily hair, clogging of hair follicles, and oily hair loss. To solve this problem, improving oily hair loss can start with regulating the endocrine system.

Develop good lifestyle habits for oily hair loss

Due to the pressure of market competition, many professionals cannot rest on time, eat regularly, and are under mental stress. Therefore, developing good lifestyle habits can effectively solve oily hair loss caused by endocrine disorders.
