What masks to wear on hazy days Hazy days to wear disposable masks are useful

May 6, 2023
With the rapid development of society, environmental pollution is also becoming more and more serious, especially air pollution, a serious threat to our health. For daily travel, wearing an anti-haze mask has a good protective effect, so let's take a look at what mask to wear on hazy days?

Ordinary cotton masks

The most common masks, the material can be cotton, gauze, wool, canvas and velvet, etc., but these materials themselves are not dense enough, the loopholes are relatively large, so they can not filter through the fine particles in the air, can not haze.

Disposable masks (medical surgical masks)

This disposable mask is used most by doctors, and it can stop many respiratory infectious diseases. You can use this disposable mask if you go to a public place such as a hospital when a certain disease is prevalent, or if you catch a cold yourself, or if you want to prevent allergic reactions caused by something else such as pollen. But you still can't rely on it if you're preventing haze, because like ordinary cotton masks, it can't effectively filter fine particles and other pollutants in the air.

N95 mask

This mask is made according to the standards of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. N: refers to protection against non-oily suspended particles, which are the main pollutant component in the haze. 95: means the efficiency of filtration is at least 95%. N95 mask can not only effectively filter PM2.5 and other air pollutants, but also can be used to protect against SARS or bird flu and other serious infectious diseases, so it can be said that it is a good tool to prevent diseases and haze. However, the stronger the filtering ability, the greater the impact on breathing, and many people will feel the breathing becomes laborious after wearing the N95 mask. Therefore, although N95 masks are good, they are not recommended for pregnant women, the elderly, children or people with respiratory diseases, and healthy adults should not wear them for a long time.

Precautions for wearing a mask

1. Wash your hands before wearing Remember to wash your hands before wearing the mask, and don't touch the inside of the mask with your hands while wearing it, so that the inside is as clean as possible. 2. Check the fit When the mask is put on, it should completely cover your mouth, nose and chin. The better the mask fits your face, the better the protection will be. For medical protection masks such as N95, you can judge whether the eye lens is fogged up and whether there is air leakage around the mask after you put it on. 3. Don't wear it for a long time Disposable masks, as the name implies, should be used once and replaced with a new one, while N95 masks should also be replaced regularly (pay attention to the expiration date on the mask instructions), do not use one for a long time.
