precautions after iud removal

April 13, 2023
If you do not take out the ring in time, you will lose the contraceptive effect and cause gynecological diseases.

Keep the vulva hygienic

After IUD removal, you should keep your vulva hygienic to avoid infection. If you take out the ring in summer, you should change your underwear and sanitary napkins in time; wash your vulva with warm water once a day, and do not use gynecological lotion when washing. In addition, you can follow the doctor's advice to take anti-infection drugs in appropriate amounts.

Pay attention to the cold and keep warm

After IUD removal, your body is weak, so you should pay attention to the cold and keep warm to avoid getting cold. If the IUD is removed in winter, pay attention to keep warm and do not wear tight pants. For the first two days after IUD removal, pay attention to bed rest, and do not go out for the first week to avoid wind and cold.

No sexual intercourse

Do not have sex for two weeks after IUD removal to avoid inflammation and prevent future gynecological diseases, such as cervicitis, vaginitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. If you need to get pregnant, you should wait for six months after the IUD removal before you can get pregnant. Go to the hospital for a checkup 3 months after the removal of the ring to make sure that the endometrium has fully recovered and to prevent the uterus from not fully recovering, which may lead to fetal malformation or miscarriage after pregnancy.

Observe the bleeding situation

After IUD removal, you should pay attention to observation and seek medical attention in time if you find any special situation. When the IUD is removed, the endometrium and cervix are stimulated and there may be a small amount of vaginal bleeding or bloody leucorrhea (this is due to the stimulation of the endometrium or cervix by the foreign body, which is normal), which usually disappears in 1-2 days. If the bleeding is heavy (greater than normal menstrual flow) or prolonged (greater than three days), you need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.

Pay attention to food and nutrition

After IUD removal, you can take some high-protein foods (beans, eggs, milk, etc.) to speed up the repair of damaged tissues in the uterus; eat more blood-supplementing foods (brown sugar, cinnamon, red dates, black beans) to reduce the symptoms of anemia after IUD removal; eat less spicy, stimulating and cold foods.
