Methods of physical cooling

In life, due to a cold and fever or accidental burns, often need physical cooling, so what are the common methods of physical cooling of high fever?

Pillow ice bag

Place the ice bag on the forehead on the fire behind the head, if there is no ice bag can be placed in a hot water bag or plastic bag, the situation is critical, can also be used instead of popsicles. Attention! Ice bag and the skin should be separated by a towel, so as not to make the patient uncomfortable or lead to local frostbite; chest and abdomen can not be placed ice bags.

Cold compress on the head

Apply a cold towel to the head and replace it when it becomes warm.

Warm water bath

Close the doors and windows, avoid convective wind or direct blowing wind, control the room temperature between 24~26 degrees, and flood the body torso with water. Hold up the shoulders, lay the body in the tub, bathe for about 5~10 minutes, and measure the body temperature after half an hour. The water temperature should not be too cold or too hot. If there is any aggravation, mental, facial and respiratory abnormalities, it should be stopped immediately.

Warm water foot bath

Soak feet in warm water 2~3 degrees below body temperature for about 30 minutes to help the body dissipate heat.

Warm towel wet compress

Wet a towel with about 30 degrees warm water and wrap it around the patient's body, exposing only the face and feet for 10 minutes.

Alcohol bath

30% to 50% alcohol at a temperature of about 30 degrees. After using square gauze alcohol, rub the bath in the following order: outer arm - arm - armpit - inner upper arm - palm - hip - outer thigh - back of the foot - groin - inner thigh. Caution: no rubbing of the chest and abdomen; newborns should be operated under the guidance of a doctor; the action of rubbing should be gentle, rubbing until the skin is red; no alcohol can be replaced by white wine and warm water.

Cold saline enema

In case of conditions, you can use isotonic saline 300~500ml enema, which is a method with significant cooling effect, especially suitable for children with bacterial dysentery, which can cool down, relieve symptoms, flush out stool and help diagnose.
