April 3, 2023
DHA is the English abbreviation of docosahexaenoic acid, it is a polyvalent unsaturated fatty acid, is the necessary substances for brain development, then its role and function in the end what is it?

Brain health effects

DHA is an important component of the human brain, accounting for about 10% of our brain lipids. It can promote the brain development of infants and children, enhance learning and memory functions, but also to prevent brain tissue atrophy and aging of the elderly, is to maintain brain function indispensable substances, at any age should be supplemented; and DHA deficiency will affect intellectual development. Especially pregnant women should be supplemented with sufficient amount of DHA to help the brain development of the fetus, which should be consumed 0.5~1.5g per day. In the period from the 4th month of pregnancy to the end of the 1st year after the baby is born, the brain develops at the fastest rate and should be supplemented with DHA.

Protect your eyesight

DHA is the main component of the photoreceptors of our retina and is involved in optic nerve metabolism; it plays a role in protecting the retina, improving the sensitivity of the retina to light and improving the effectiveness of vision. Studies have confirmed that DHA for infants and children can promote vision development and reduce the occurrence of amblyopia, and DHA supplementation for middle-aged and elderly people can delay or improve the formation of presbyopia.

Promote growth and slow down aging

Experiments have shown that DHA supplementation has a significant effect on the development of infant weight, length and head circumference; and DHA can prolong the life of nerve cells and delay aging.

Anti-clotting, prevent cardiovascular diseases

DHA is involved in the formation of platelet pseudopods, which can reduce the adhesion of platelets and prolong the clotting time of platelets, thus can lower blood pressure, prevent blood clots and prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

Lowering blood lipids, anti-atherosclerosis

DHA can promote the excretion of cholesterol and can inhibit the synthesis of endogenous cholesterol, which has obvious effect of lowering blood lipids and anti-atherosclerosis, and can reduce cholesterol and neutral fat in blood.

Anti-cancer effect

The occurrence of cancer has a great relationship with prostaglandin I2, because prostaglandin I2 can reduce the body's immune function, but also can make cancer cells proliferate. DHA can inhibit the production of prostaglandin I2 and reduce its content in the body, so it has an anti-cancer effect.

Anti-allergic effect

Allergy is an immune reaction due to the production of allergens such as histamine and leukotrienes after exposure to allergens. If excess is produced, allergic reactions will occur, causing a series of symptoms; that DHA can effectively control the production of mordants, inhibit the adverse effects of histamine, leukotrienes, etc., so it has an anti-allergic effect.
